Office 2011 for Mac used to be a lot better than the version for the Windows users several years ago. Once I had the Office 2016 installation file available the process went rather smooth at first. Only the Outlook setup took long. I decided not to import my Outlook 2011 settings, because I hardly used.
Hi all, I'm currently having an issue with one of the staff members at my organization regarding shared Outlook calendars. The staff member is using Outlook 2016 on Mac and one day she was suddenly unable to open new shared calendars in her Outlook. The button in the “Home” tab of her calendar labeled “Open Shared Calendar” is grayed out. When trying to troubleshoot, I have stumbled into a few pages ( ) that suggest a few fixes, but they are not applicable. On that specific page, there are 3 given workarounds and/or fixes. The 1st suggests opening the “Exchange” folder in “My Calendars”.
As seen in the attached screenshot (OutlookScreenshot1), there is no such Exchange mailbox calendar - The 2nd asks that we manually open another user’s folder via File - Open - Other User’s Folder. However, that open is also grayed out and unavailable. (As you can see in the attached image “OutlookScreenshot2”).
The 3rd and most common solution that I have found suggests clearing the “Group Similar folders, such as inboxes, from different accounts” check box found in Outlook - Preferences - General. However, there is no such option in our General Preferences window. (As seen in the attached image “OutlookScreenshot3”). Is there currently any workarounds that are up to date with the current versions of Outlook on Mac? We are currently running version 16.16 and everything looks up to date. Thanks for the help!
Hi SawyerH, Thanks for your detailed description. As I can’t repro your issue, I suggest you to check Outlook for Mac updates, the current latest version should be 16.16.0 (18081201). If issue persists in the latest version of Outlook, to better help you, we have a dedicated team support focusing on Outlook 2016 for Mac issue, please contact our build-in support via Outlook-Help- Contact Support to get further assistance.
Before this issue to be fixed, you can let use Outlook Web App as a temporarily workaround. Thanks for your time and understanding. Regards, Anna.
